RECYCLE RED!

Recycle Red! is a Chinese New Year sustainability initiative by The Bettering Branch, seeking to promote sustainable & eco-conscious habits during Chinese New Year by partnering with Geneco to bring Red Packets Recycling bins to Schools.

Since 2025, we have partnered with 30 schools (including almost all Pre-U schools in Singapore excluding specialised independent schools) to...
- Divert approx. 428,667 red packets from landfills (assuming 1 red packet weighs 3g - total 1286KG collected)
- Reduce about 1543.2kg CO2 Emissions avoided (Using CO2 factor ~1.2kg CO2 per kg recycled paper)
- Save ~9,002 litres of water (due to recycled fibres requiring significantly less water per tonne, assuming ~7litres per Kg

We thank Milo, Project Acai, Geneco and all our partners for making Recycle Red! a success thus far! See you in 2027!

THE BETTERING RUN 2025

We partnered with Canberra Community Club to organise The Bettering Run, a 3.5KM Run + Post-Run Carnival supporting Health & Sustainability. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Canberra Park, we saw more than 200 participants of all ages show up in support of Health & Sustainability.

We also thank Dr Lim Wee Kiak, Member of Parliament for the Canberra division of Sembawang Group for attending the event as our Guest-Of-Honour.

Why Health & Sustainability?
- Both causes are undermined by the same root behaviours of overconsumption and short-termism, and both require the same mindset shift toward long-term thinking over immediate convenience.
- We organised The Bettering Run with the hopes that it would be a tangible, community-facing way to engage youths, making health and sustainability feel fun and accessible rather than abstract.
- It also served as a way for us to unite and uplift multiple youth groups, community partners and small businesses that support Health & Sustainability around a shared mission.
- We also hoped for our event to be proof that small-scale community events can be sustainable too! We did this by...
--> Setting a benchmark of 90% of event decor to be either made out of recycled materials collected from the community OR personally sourced second-hand from carousell
--> Setting our event date to coincide with other events happening around the community (The event stage and tentage was reused multiple times instead of set up and torn down just for our event!)

The Bettering Run (TBR) will be back in 2026!
